Reliable Stock Allocation: Reservation in Beas Manufacturing
2026.08.18
Are You Struggling to Manage Inventory Allocation and Adjust to Sudden Schedule Changes?
This time, we focus on information Linking and inventory Reservations (allocation) in Beas Manufacturing, a production management add-on for SAP Business One. Linking refers to the mechanism for connecting work orders (production instructions) and purchase orders created for a sales order. Reservation is a function that allocates the required raw materials to a specific work order and prevents those materials from being taken for other sales orders.
With the standard functionality of SAP Business One, inventory can be tracked through batch management (see: Enhancing traceability with SAP Business One). However, it cannot address the impact of unexpected material withdrawals on the shop floor or delays in production planning. By utilizing Beas Manufacturing’s linking and reservation functions, you can prevent discrepancies between the system and the manufacturing floor, even for items that are not managed by lot. Let’s take a closer look at how these features work and how they can help.
Feature Overview
- Linking: Create documents while linking them together and track the entire process at a glance.
Starting from a sales order created in SAP Business One, you can directly create Beas Manufacturing work orders and SAP Business One purchase orders while maintaining the links between them. The created links are organized hierarchically in the Work Order Structure. This allows you to instantly check the entire flow from sales order to procurement without the need to manually search for individual documents.

- Reservation (allocation): Secure the required raw materials by allocating them to a specific work order.
Once a reservation is completed, an icon is displayed next to the raw material in the Work Order Structure, and its issue for other work orders is blocked. This prevents materials from being taken for other orders on a first-come, first-served basis on the shop floor.

Benefits of These Features
The synchronization between data and the shop floor enabled by Beas Manufacturing provides companies with three key benefits.
-
Eliminate communication errors between departments and streamline collaboration.
Because sales, production, and purchasing documents are directly linked, you can eliminate missed procurement steps and miscommunication between departments.
-
Prevent unauthorized use of raw materials and avoid confusion on the shop floor.
By reserving the required raw materials for a work order in advance, you can prevent production interruptions immediately before manufacturing and delays to the production schedule.
-
Secure inventory quickly without complex batch management settings.
Even without defining lot or serial number management rules for each item in SAP Business One, the required materials can be secured through a simple reservation process.
Connecting Information and Materials to Keep Production on Schedule
Linking documents eliminates procurement errors, while reservations prevent material shortages. Together, these two functions create a production environment where manufacturing can proceed according to plan.
